Panch’s, Sarpanch’s, DDC’s from Kupwara threaten mass resignation

Srinagar, Apr 22: Panch’s, Sarpanh’s and DDC Chairpersons and vice-chairpersons from frontier Kupwara Thursday threatened ‘mass resignation’ in case the government failed to look into the issues elected representatives face for the past one and half year.

Joined by Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) National Youth President, Sanjay Saraf, protesting Panch’s and Sarpanch’s alleged that crores of rupees were lapsed as the district administration failed to utilize funds sanctioned by the centre and UT government for the development of district Kupwara properly.

Protesters said disciplinary action should be initiated against them in case the district administration cast doubts on their honesty. Protesting Panch’s and Sarpanch’s had assembled at the Press Enclave to catch LG’s attention towards the ‘messy’ situation of all blocks in Kupwara.

“Not a single work has been done for the last one and a half years in Kupwara district. District administration has not utilized a single penny through us. Why should we put our lives at risk when we are not trusted,” Mohammad Ashraf Lone, Sarpanch Dragmulla Kupwara said.

Protesters said the bureaucratic rigmaroles have marred the developmental work in district Kupwara while funds released by the centre and UT government could not be properly utilized.

They threatened to go for mass resignation in case the Kupwara administration particularly DC, ADC Kupwara does not stop acting as barriers in development of the frontier district.

“We are public representatives, but we stand nowhere, our opinion is not considered, our orders are ignored, so it’s better for us to resign. If the DC and his lieutenant trust JE and BDO more the elected representatives and beat drums of their honesty, then initiate action against us being dishonest,” they added.

Meanwhile LJP national young wing president, Sanjay Saraf urged the Lieutenant Governor to look into the delay in developmental works and reason behind fund lapse in district Kupwara.

“We request worth LG to seek explanation from all the civil servants of district Kupwara for lapse of funds and undue delay developmental works in Kupwara,” Saraf added.
