Srinagar, Apr 29: The present oxygen generation capacity in different hospitals of Kashmir division is 6500 litres per minute which is now being increased as new oxygen plants are being installed in every district hospital.

Financial Commissioner Health J&K Atal Dulloo said that the new oxygen plants are being installed in every district hospital of Jammu and Kashmir besides associated hospitals of Government Medical College Jammu and Kashmir and some sub district hospitals.

He said that at present the capacity of oxygen supply in Kashmir division alone is 6500 litres per minute excluding manifold and oxygen cylinders.

“In Jammu and Kashmir we have 3000 beds which have oxygen supply and with each passing day the number of such beds is increasing,” Duloo said.

He further added that with the completion of new oxygen plants at district hospitals, J&K will get two thousand more beds with oxygen supply.

Duloo said that the all 36 oxygen plants that were approved recently for Jammu and Kashmir will get completed in next few days.

Pertinently J&K is witnessing steep surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths from the last one fortnight mainly.

To break the chain, the J&K government has announced an 84 hour long lockdown in 11 districts of Union Territory starting from 7 pm today.
