Coronavirus : 51 patients die, 3733 test positive in JK

Srinagar, May 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Saturday witnessed 51 deaths due to Covid pandemic while 3,733 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 34,567 .

With 51 more deaths, highest since the pandemic outbreak, the death toll in the UT has reached to 2,421 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 3,733 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday pushed the tally of positive cases to 187,219.

Of the exact number of 187,219 cases, 114,020 are from Kashmir and 73,199 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 3,733 new cases, 2,439 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,294 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 114,020 including 90,336 recoveries and 1,440 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 73,199 including 59,895 recoveries and 981 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 34,567 including 22,244 from Kashmir division and 12,323 from Jammu division.

With 1,536 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 150,231 which is 80.24 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,136 from Srinagar, 232  from Baramulla, 208  from Budgam, 296 from Pulwama, 64 from Kupwara, 145 from Anantnag, 85 from Bandipora, 51 from Ganderbal, 167 from Kulgam and 55 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,212 from Jammu division include 584 from Jammu, 86 from Udhampur, 111 from Rajouri, 12 from Doda, 112 from Kathua, 209 from Samba, 09 from Kishtwar, 30 from Poonch, 44 from Ramban and 97 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 51 deaths reported today, 24 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in MCH Wing GMC Jmu (Govt GN Hosp), 02 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in GMC Doda, 01 in CD Hosp Jmu, 01 in GMGS Jmu, 01 in DH Ramban, 01 in DH Poonch, 03 in Home (Brought Dead), 01 in CD Hosp Sgr, 06 in SKIMS Soura, 05 in SMHS, 01 in CHC Kupwara, 01 in DH Kulgam and 01 in SDH Sopore.

As per officials figures, 46,784 positive cases including 560 deaths and 36,081 recoveries are from Srinagar, 13,768 including 201 deaths and 10,884 recoveries are from Baramulla, 11,315  including 9,378 recoveries and 134 deaths are from Budgam, 7,628 including 6,159 recoveries and 103 deaths are from Pulwama, 7,375 including 104 deaths and 6,145 recoveries are from Kupwara, 7,652 including 5,744 recoveries and 111 deaths are from Anantnag, 5,687 cases including 5,042’and 64 deaths are from Bandipora, 5,655 including 4,992 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Ganderbal, 4,932  including 3,199 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Kulgam and 3,224 including 2,712 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 36,193 including 28,984 recoveries and 534 deaths are from Jammu district, 6,384 including 5,584 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Udhampur, 5,246 including 3,945 recoveries and 73 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,883 including 3,529 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Doda, 4,884 including 4,092 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Kathua, 4,102 including 2,867 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Samba, 3,003 including 2,864 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 3,095 including 2,606 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Poonch, 2,764 including 2,437 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Ramban and 3,645 including 2,987 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,830,792 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 94,844 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 34,567 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,580,696 persons have completed surveillance period and 118,264 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,380,302 samples are available. Out of 7,380,302 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,193,083 while as 187,219 have tested positive, among them 34,567 persons are active, 150,231 persons have recovered and 2,421 persons have died.
