Pulwama, Jun 14: Several Municipal Councillors of Pulwama district on Monday protested against executive officer Municipal Committee Pulwama besides Municipal committee president and vice president at Municipal Office Pulwama, alleging that the work is being set around the wards from where NC Councillors have won.
The Councillors alleged that they are being ignored and their views are not considered while drafting a plan.
“People have choosen us to work as they have lot of expectations from us but if there will be no developmental work, people will raise questions on our credibility,” said one of the Councillor.
“When any resolution is passed, that goes to National Conference office in Pulwama where from directions are given to set around National Conference wards only,” the Councillors alleged.
“The executive officer and employees have joined hands with National Conference and are doing work as per NC’s wishes.”
They said that out of 15 works approved, six have been approved in Prichoo, Pulwama from where president of the council has been elected on the NC seat.
“Moreover, four works have been approved at Dalipora Pulwama from where vice president of the council has won on NC ticket besides that three works are to be done around NC office Pulwama,” they further alleged, adding that “No work has been approved in six wards of Malikpora, Chatpora and Dangerpora which clearly shows that works are being on the patronage of NC.”
The Councillors have requested Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Manoj Sinha, Director Urban local bodies and DC to look into their issue and take action against the involved persons adding they will continue to protest unless their issue is not resolved.
Meanwhile, President of the Council Shabnam Nazir said that Councillors were asked to submit list of works, which they did, however, list was long and it was rejected by authorities and then they were asked to submit the names of two work which needs to be done on priority however, they failed to do so and then works of other Councillors were approved. She said that works of the wards left will be also done and there is no need to worry.
