Srinagar, Jun 22: With the decline in Covid-19 positive cases in Kashmir, the tourism department has once again opened the doors for the tourists to visit the valley.
Commissioner Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez said there are no restrictions for the travellers to visit the valley, however, the already placed SOPs and guidelines have to follow by everyone.
“There are no restrictions on any tourists wishing to travel to the valley. However, there are already Covid guidelines and SOPs in place which everyone has to follow,” he said.
Hafeez said since the situation is evolving, the government is monitoring the situation closely, “and are taking appropriate measures accordingly,”
Hafeez said the inoculation drive for the stakeholders drove a good response, and around 85 per cent of the people associated with the tourism industry have been vaccinated and the department is ensuring that every stakeholder associated with the tourism industry or has a direct interface with the tourists are immunized.
In the last few weeks, the tourism department held many review meetings, where the focus was given to adherence to Covid SOPs and vaccination. The department also discussed the modalities for improving the services in the tourism sector.
On Monday, Advisor Baseer Khan held a meeting at SKICC to review the functioning of all the Tourism Development Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir and directed the CEOs for improvement of services in their respective areas for the better experience of tourists.
