Srinagar, Jun 30: On doctors’ day, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Wednesday lauded the role played by doctors in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
“Hailing doctors for their relentless service and unparalleled contribution during the Covid pandemic, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan said doctors have been working tirelessly since day one of the public health crisis.
“Doctors have been toiling round the clock to save lives. They are risking their own lives to save others,” he said.
The DAK President said while people are self-isolating, doctors are out there fighting for the lives of individuals infected with the virus.
“They have been working day in and day out without proper food and beyond shift hours caring for Covid patients and consoling their relatives,” he said.
“I thank and salute each and every one of them for their spirited fight against the pandemic,” he added.
Dr Mir Mohd Iqbal vice-president DAK said managing a critically ill Covid patient is physically, mentally and emotionally very demanding for a doctor.
“But nothing gives more pleasure to a doctor than a patient recovering from the illness,” he said.
General Secretary DAK Dr Suhail Shah said doctors are fighting one of the toughest battles of the century.
“Covid pandemic has been hard on doctors as well because even we lost our colleagues and close family members to the virus. But doctors continued to work untiring in the hour of crisis,” he said.
Dr Javid Qanangoo senior executive member DAK said doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are working in very harsh conditions and the equipment they wear is very uncomfortable.
“Their kindness, empathy and compassion has made difference in the lives of so many patients. Their utmost commitment to keep people safe and healthy in these challenging times is truly exceptional,” he said.
Spokesperson DAK Dr Riyaz Ahmad Dagga said it was unimaginable for any health system to cope with such a huge health crisis, but the strong will of our brave hearts made it possible,” he said.
“We are indebted to the dedication and professionalism shown by our doctors in their line of duty,” he said.
“Every year doctors’ day is celebrated on July 01 to acknowledge the services of doctors and their huge contribution to the medical advancement.
This year, however, the significance of the day is extremely crucial as doctors and other medical staff have become the beacon of hope against the deadly coronavirus pandemic plaguing the world,” he added.
