Sgr Beautification: SMC directs officers to submit plan in five days

All inner roads to be macadamized within one month: Dy Mayor

Srinagar, Jul 6: Days after forming an Executive Committee, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has directed its officers to submit plans in the next five days for the beautification of Srinagar.
Sources within the corporation said that two meetings were held in the last couple of days wherein the SMC officers have been directed to come up with the plans in the areas falling under their jurisdiction.
“The officers have been directed to submit plans in the next five days following which the work for the beautification of Srinagar will be started,” they said.
Deputy Mayor, Parvez Qadri when contacted, confirmed the development and said that Srinagar to be beautified soon as the process has been initiated in this regard.
“The executive committee, which was formed recently, will be giving priority to the public demands,” he said, adding that all the public demands related to drainage, electricity and other priority issues that have been pending since long will be resolved shortly.
About the macadamization of Srinagar roads, Deputy Mayor informed that Rs 25 crores have been recently provided to the roads and Building (R&B) department for the blacktopping of inner roads of Srinagar.
He said all the inner roads falling under the jurisdiction of Srinagar to be macadamized within one month. “We have already provided Rs 15 crores to R&B for patching and other things. Now, additional Rs 25 crores have been provided to the department for macadamization of inner roads in Srinagar,” he added.
The short tenders to be issued soon and all the link roads to be macadamized within one month, he said, adding that almost two kilometer road length in every ward will be macadamized.
