The acute water scarcity in Srinagar areas has left the local populace high and dry as they have been facing tremendous hardships from last almost one week now due to the inadequate water supply. One fails to understand when the government will be able to supply adequate water to the consumers across Srinagar, also known as the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The downtown areas in Srinagar, are being pushed to the wall more frequently due to acute water scarcity. Such is the intensity that the announcements are being made from the local Masjids, asking people to do ablution at home as the taps in the Masjids are running dry. The million dollar question remains: when is the government, especially the concerned department, going to take adequate steps to ensure adequate and round-the-clock water supply to the consumers in Srinagar, especially in downtown areas. The taps running dry in Srinagar areas are putting a question mark over the claims of administration with regard to ensuring development in Jammu and Kashmir. There is a need to take immediate steps to put an end to the sufferings of the consumers by ensuring round-the-clock water supply to them so that they could heave a sigh of relief. The concerned department should also try to find a solution to put an end to the frequent hit to the water supply to Srinagar City dwellers. The consumers must not be pushed to the wall anymore and all their issues especially regarding Water, electricity and roads must be ensured up to the mark.
