Srinagar, Oct 27: The frequent internet cuts in different areas of Kashmir since the past 15 days is irking local residents to carry out their day- to-day work.
The residents of downtown Srinagar, Pampore, Litter and many other areas said that the frequent internet cuts are creating hurdles for them to carry on with their daily work.
Tawseef Ahmed, a resident of Lethpora Pampore, told KNO that the internet services remain suspended in the area from 7 am to 11 am and then from 3 pm till 10 pm on a regular basis for the past one week or so.
“Most of the business activities in contemporary times depend on internet services but frequent blockades are taking a toll on our business,” he said.
Similarly people from different areas of downtown said that the internet blockade creates problems for students enrolled in different colleges and universities.
“After power cuts, authorities have now resorted to internet cuts in the downtown area. It is a sheer injustice to us. We are being punished for no fault,” Ishfaq Majeed from Nowhatta said.
Zahid Ahmad from Litter who deals with submitting different forms online said that his 50 percent work has got affected due to the frequent internet blockades in the last few days.
“Most of the students and other people were coming to my shop to submit forms in the evening time but due to the internet blockades, they are choosing to go to other areas now,” he said.
“We request higher ups to look into the matter and before blockade keep the business community and students in mind as internet blockades are adding to our miseries,” locals said.
Meanwhile, police had said that shutting down the internet of some towers is purely related to militancy related incidents. Apart from the internet snapping, call drops on Jio and Airtel are being frequently reported from majority of Kashmir parts leaving the consumers of these telecom services irked.
