Pulwama, Nov 15: Hundreds of Permanent and Temporary daily labourers of Power Development Department (PDD) on Monday staged a protest in Pulwama district and pressed their demand in favour of long pending demands.
Hundreds of PDL/TDL workers assembled at PDD office Pulwama and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The protestors said that it is only PDL and TDL workers who are climbing on poles even during snowfall and ensuring power supply to the whole J&K and mostly daily wagers get killed due to electrocution while repairing wires.
They said that despite working day and night, their files have been lying in the Secretariat since last year but due to unknown reasons permanent orders aren’t being issued.
They said that some files are still lying in division offices and aren’t being forwarded to higher ups due to unknown reasons.
“We were hundred times assured by the concerned authorities that your demands will be met but their repeated promises and assurances proved a hoax on ground,” they said.
Higher authorities are deliberately delaying “our issues which include issuance of regularization order, submission of pending files who have already completed five years and release of pending wages.”
They added that if their demands aren’t fulfilled immediately, “we will go for indefinite strike.”
“We once again request LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter personally on humanitarian ground.”
