Drugs remain threat, challenge: DGP

Jammu, Nov 27: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Saturday drugs remain a threat and challenge despite huge consignments being seized in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our youth is our future and hope of nation and they have to act as responsible and careful citizens,” the DGP said while talking to media men after inaugurating Jammu Bike Fest organised by Big FM and associate partners at Bahu Plaza here.
Complementing the organizers for organizing the bike fest in Jammu, the DGP said that speed thrills youth but they should be careful as life is very precious. He advised youth to take care of themselves and specially their parents and use helmets while driving bikes. He said that speed is enjoyable till it is under control.
On the sidelines of the programme, the DGP told media persons said that drug menace was creating havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistan in its continuous attempts of disturbing peace and harmony here is using drugs as a source to lure the youth in anti national activities and ruin their lives,” he said, adding, “Despite huge consignments being seized, drugs remain a threat and challenge.”
He appealed to the people especially parents to come forward and support Police in combating the drug menace. He advised the youth to utilize their energy in the positive direction.
On militancy, the DGP said that Police and security forces are “working hard to finish it” from Jammu and Kashmir “so that people live a peaceful life.”
Regarding COVID19, he said that the threat is not over yet and people should remain careful and act with responsibility, following all the COVID protocols. “You have seen there have been deaths with fully vaccinated persons becoming victim,” he said, adding, “not disobey government directives on social gathering and social distancing.” (GNS)
