Srinagar, Nov 16: Scores of law students from Kashmir University and its affiliated colleges Monday protested to reiterate their demand for the conduct of examinations online instead of proposed offline mode by the varsity.
The students assembled at Press Enclave here to lodge their protest – even as registering one earlier this month.
“We all are the law students from Kashmir University and its affiliated colleges having assembled here to protest against the proposed offline examination mode by the varsity”, an agitated student said adding they have already moved multiple representations before the University authorities, respective Department and Colleges to seek online examinations as, according to him, they have attended the classes in online mode only.
“The cases (Covid-19) are also witnessing a spike in Srinagar and elsewhere”, he said.
“Even as the Department (of law) has assured us that no life will be put at threat but sadly we are coming here – Press Enclave – again to protest against the varsity’s decision to conduct the examination in offline mode”, he said.
Urging Lieutenant Governor to intervene in the matter, the agitated student on behalf of his colleagues said that they ‘appeal Honorable LG to save their future and lives’. “We earnestly ask for revocation of the datesheet and that our exams be conducted in online mode”, he said.
North Campus – which is among the two other specified locations for conduct of exams besides South Campus or main Campus – has, according to the agitated students, already been demarcated as Containment Zone after surfacing of cases (Covid-19). “Asking the students to appear for exams in such a situation is a total risk and injustice”, the students.
Reiterating their demand, the students said we urge the LG led dispensation to kindly intervene into the matter. (GNS)
