F&DA Baramulla organises awareness programme

Baramulla, Dec 2: As part of ‘Eat Right India’ challenge, the Food and Drug Administration (F&DA) Thursday organised a day-long awareness programme for Food Business Operators at Dak Bunglow, here.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar was the Chief guest on the occasion.
‘Eat Right India’ challenge is a large-scale initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to improve public health and combat negative nutritional trends to fight lifestyle diseases and make awareness among consumers about safe, healthy and sustainable dietary habits.
At the outset, a detailed awareness was given to the consumers with regard to Food Safety and various hygienic parameters.
A detailed information was also given to Food Business Operators (FBOs) through Powerpoint presentation wherein They were trained to keep every hygienic parameter into consideration with regard to any stage of manufacture, processing, packaging, storage, distribution of food and imports besides food services.
These manufactures were also directed to conduct Hygiene Rating of their premises and to undergo advanced Food Safety training and certification through empanelled partners of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the ‘Eat Right India’ movement is envisioned as a competition among districts and cities to recognise their efforts in adopting and scaling up various initiatives under Eat Right India. Further, it is meant to motivate states to improve performance and encourage others to join.
He further directed the concerned department to collect samples of various edible items and send them to the laboratory for testing to know whether they qualify the set standards for consumption of human beings.
Moreover, he also stressed upon the concerned officers to make people aware with regard to Food Safety and various hygienic parameters.
Assistant Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration Baramulla, Suranjeet Singh, various officers and officials besides a huge gathering of Food Business Operators of Baramulla district were present on the occasion.
