Ganderbal, Dec 4: The dilapidated condition of vital of vital Duderhama-Fatehpura road, connecting dozens of villages in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has become a nuisance for the villagers, who have appealed the administration to look into the matter as the earliest.
Locals said that Duderhama-Fatehpura road stretch was macadamized by the authorities concerned in the year 2018.
“The macadamization, however, lasted for just two to three months as the sub-standard material was used during the process by the authorities, thus leaving the people to lurch at large,” they said. “The bumpy and potholed road is giving tough time to the commuters as well as pedestrians. No attention is being given towards the issue.”
The locals alleged that in 2020 macadamization of the road was done on which Crores of rupees were spent, however, sub-standard material was again used and thus the road developed potholes again.
Meanwhile, locals urged the concerned authorities to investigate the matter and take strict action against the officials and contractors involved in using sub-standard material.
They added that they have brought this issue into notice of higher ups several times but to no avail as nothing happened on ground.
The locals urged Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal to constitute an enquiry committee to bring the facts out and redress their grievances at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
The locals demanded that the concerned officials must take note of the grievance and issue necessary directions in this regard.
