Examinations have once again turn out to be hot topics for the students as well as the parents as different statements have been coming to the fore in this regard with many seeking the postponement of exams while many demand online examinations in wake of the surge in the Covid-19 cases across Jammu and Kashmir like other parts of the country from the last two weeks now. The universities across Jammu and Kashmir after reviewing the ground situation announced postponement of the examinations in a bid to ensure that the students don’t catch the virus and the deadly pandemic is prevented from spreading. However, in this regard, the students have been approaching the media persons through telephonically or visiting the press enclave in person to pitch either for the online mode of examinations or postponement of the papers. Such protests have been going on since the outbreak of the virus. As far as the examinations are concerned, the online examinations are no way ensuring better quality of education, thus such tests are simultaneously vague. The government should hold deliberations with the educationists in this regard and come up with a solution to ensure that the online exams are not conducted anywhere rather there is a need to consider postponement of the examinations till the situation improves following which the tests can be conducted normally without any hesitation. One must not allow the conduct of online mode of examinations as such a method can never help the Schools, Colleges and other educational institutions to gauge the capacity of the students. It is not in favour to ensure the students qualify their exams, but there is a need to ensure that the students are qualified, capable, competent, and fit enough to compete with the other students in the competitive examinations in the future.
