Srinagar, Jan 22: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday reported seven deaths and the biggest spike of 6,568 cases, highest ever since pandemic pushing the number of active cases to 39,113.
The spurt in deaths and positivity comes at a time when the entire UT is under tight weekend lockdown that commenced on Friday afternoon.
With seven more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 4,598 and 6,568 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 390,949.
Of the exact number of 390,949 cases, 246,750 are from Kashmir division and 144,199 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 6,568 new cases, 4,693 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,875 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 246,750 including 217,764 recoveries and 2,352 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 144,199 including 129,474 recoveries and 2,246 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 39,113 including 26,634 from Kashmir division and 12,479 from Jammu division.
With 2,330 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 347,238 which is 88.82 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,604 from Srinagar, 749 from Baramulla, 643 from Budgam, 230 from Pulwama, 320 from Kupwara, 243 from Anantnag, 418 from Bandipora, 99 from Ganderbal, 333 from Kulgam and 54 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,875 from Jammu division include 1,236 from Jammu district, 78 from Udhampur, 59 from Rajouri, 120 from Doda, 59 from Kathua, 91 from Samba, 49 from Kishtwar, 50 from Poonch, 99 from Ramban and 34 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 51.
As per officials figures, 89,966 positive cases including 890 deaths and 79,154 recoveries are from Srinagar, 32,313 including 292 deaths and 26,309 recoveries are from Baramulla, 29,156 including 25,803 recoveries and 222 deaths are from Budgam, 16,945 including 15,749 recoveries and 196 deaths are from Pulwama, 16,666 including 170 deaths and 15,381 recoveries are from Kupwara, 18,813 including 16,659 recoveries and 212 deaths are from Anantnag, 11,926 cases including 10,394 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 12,045 including 11,023 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 13,091 including 11,731 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,829 including 5,561 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 65,089 including 55,567 recoveries and 1,182 deaths are from Jammu district, 12,957 including 11,918 recoveries and 143 deaths are from Udhampur, 12,067 including 11,358 recoveries and 243 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,660 including 8,000 recoveries and 139 deaths are from Doda, 10,456 including 9,687 recoveries and 157 deaths are from Kathua, 8,075 including 7,430 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 5,129 including 4,955 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Kishtwar, 7,187 including 6,755 recoveries and 104 deaths are from Poonch, 6,446 including 6,136 recoveries and 68 deaths are from Ramban and 8,132 including 7,668 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 5,620,831 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,135 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 39,113 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 5,139,479 persons have completed the surveillance period and 429,506 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 20,770,819 samples are available. Out of 20,770,819 the number of samples tested negative stands at 20,379,870 while as 390,949 have tested positive, among them 39,113 persons are active, 347,238 persons have recovered and 4,598 persons have died.
