2 tourists among 8 injured in Pahalgam mishap

Srinagar, Feb 22: At least eight passengers including two tourists were injured in a road accident at Langanbal area of Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday evening.
An official said that an accident took place at Langanbal Pahalgam near Hotel Kulhai Glacier, in which one Tavera vehicle bearing registered number JK018A-0320 skidded off the road and fell into a gorge.
He said that the vehicle was coming from Anantnag to Pahalgam and due to slippery road condition; it skidded off the road, resulting in injuries to eight persons.
He further added that all the injured persons were referred to PHC Pahalgam for treatment.
A doctor from the hospital said that three among them have sustained minor injuries and are being treated here while rest having head and shoulder injuries were referred to GMC Anantnag for specialized treatment.
He further added that all of them are stable and no one among them was critical.
He identified them as Muhammad Saleem Dar son of Ab Gani Dar of Pahalgam, Fehmeeda wife of Manzoor Ahmad of Anantnag, Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Abdul Rashid Rather of Anantnag, Shahid Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Kokernag, Muneer Ahmad, son of Abdul Lateef of Mujgund Srinagar and Driver Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of late Ghulam Hasaan Mir of Batkoot Pahalgam.
He identified the injured tourists as Vipal Chohan, son of Balchi Chohan and Jyoti Chohan, wife of Vipal Chohan—both residents of Gujrat.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigation.
