Srinagar, Mar 5: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said that they are working to make OPD services functional at Bone and Joint hospital on priority basis while the hospital will be made functional in next one week to ten days.
Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education Vivek Bhardwaj who on Saturday visited Barzulla, while talking to reporters, said that last night in an unfortunate incident, fire broke out in Bone and Joint Hospital in which emergency operation theatre and third floor suffered damage, however, rest of the wards are safe.
He said that with the efforts of common people, staff, district and divisional administration, they managed to evacuate all patients and attendants safely and no one was hurt in the incident.
“We are working to make this hospital functional again and the process has been started, knowing that it is one of the important hospitals of Kashmir so it will be made functional as soon as possible,” he said.
He added that in the next seven to ten days, the hospital will be made functional again, however, the government is working to make OPD functional before that.
He said that this hospital has very much importance as over 20 major operations are conducted here every day so the government is working to make it functional as soon as possible.
“The fire was controlled on time with the help of locals and other staff, had it not been controlled on time damage would have been massive,” he added.
He said that the structural engineers would check out which areas are safe and which areas need repairs or reconstruction and after their certification everything will be made operational soon.
