Dr Farooq visits Ganderbal, chairs DISHA meeting

Ganderbal, Mar 8: The Member Parliament (MP), Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday visited Ganderbal to review the progress achieved under different centrally sponsored schemes, other developmental programmes being implemented in the district at a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, (DISHA) of District Ganderbal held in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, here.
Vice-Chairperson DDC Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, Additional District Development Commissioner, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, CPO, ACD, SDM Kangan, ACR besides BDC Chairpersons and all other district and sectoral Officers were present in the meeting.
At the outset, CPO Ganderbal gave a detailed overview of the developmental scenario and progress achieved under different ongoing schemes in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.
During the meeting, the MP took a comprehensive review of various schemes department wise including, Health, Education, PDD, RDD, PWD, PHE, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries and other departments.
While reviewing the progress on various ongoing development projects, the MP said that the aim of holding the DISHA meeting was to have firsthand appraisal about the implementation of various schemes and to assess the developmental requirements in the district.
On the occasion, the MP sought feedback from BDCs regarding the developmental activities in their areas and enquired about developmental needs in their blocks. He assured them that all their genuine demands shall be taken up for consideration.
Reviewing the education sector, the MP said that education sector has suffered the most in last two years due to Covid pandemic and asked the Education department to make strategic plan to makeover the academic losses suffered due to the closure of educational institutions during Covid-19 pandemic besides Covid protocols shall be followed strictly in all schools.
While interacting with the district officers, he stressed for timely completion of all developmental projects and ensuring a prompt and efficient public delivery mechanism in the district.
Replying to the demands raised by the BDCs, Dr Abdullah sought their cooperation and emphasized to work in tandem with District Administration for overall prosperity and development of people in the district.
While discussing the achievements of Agriculture and Horticulture in the district, the MP asked the department to take all measures to ensure the quality and genuine insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers is made available to the farming community besides awareness shall be generated regarding the latest technological methods in agriculture and its allied sectors to boom the economy of the farmer community.
The MP asked the SSP Ganderbal to take strict measures against the drug menace in the district to save youth from hazardous effects of the drug abuse in the district.
While appreciating the District Administration for its achievements in various sectors, the MP asked the officers to work with more dedication and zeal so that the benefits of welfare schemes reach to the genuine beneficiaries especially living in far flung areas of the district.
