SPO shot dead, brother critically injured in Budgam militant attack

Budgam, Mar 26: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed while his brother was critically injured at Chadabugh area of Soibugh in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday.
A police officer said that an SPO and his brother were fired upon by the unknown gunmen at their home and left both of them critically injured.
He said both were referred to JVC hospital Srinagar for treatment where doctors declared SPO who was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Muhammad as brought dead.
“Umar Ahmad, his brother, is undergoing treatment,” they said. Locals said that those attacked are four brothers, three of whom work in the police department.
“Militants barged into their house and fired indiscriminately but only two brothers, one SPO posted at Budgam and another one who is a student were present at the house and sustained injuries,” they said.
In a tweet by Kashmir zone police they said that “SPO Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Jan (a student) were fired upon by Militants at their residence in village Chadbugh area of Budgam. However Ishfaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries & attained martyrdom. Area cordoned off, search operation in progress.”
A police officer said that the case has been registered and the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. (KNO)
