It has been 13 days since the two families, who lost everything including their residential place as well as the source of income in a massive blaze that broke out in Nigeen Lake in the intervening night of April 03-04. Shockingly, these two families out of the seven affected, are presently living under the open sky as there has been no compensation from the government so far to help them in rebuilding their houses and also start anew to earn their livelihood. It is unfortunate that despite elapsing 13 days since April 03, the families are being forced to live under open sky and the subsequent relief measures are delayed. One fails to understand the pace of work within the administration as the priority events and happenings are getting delayed for unknown reasons. In the holy month of Ramadhan, the concerned should have at least given a thought to the sufferings of these two families, who lost their shelter and livelihood in the blaze. Such is the non-seriousness that a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has started building a hut for one of the families, thus putting a question mark over the claims and promises by the people at the helm of the affairs at present. There is a need to take measures at earliest with regard to relief and rehabilitation of these families so that they could start fresh. The top officials must intervene into the matter and ensure that the demands of the affected families are fulfilled at an earliest.
