Drugs threaten future generations

The world has observed Hypertension day. But, all we need to understand is that the lack of activities, especially a mandatory walk for half an hour a day, is affecting the health of an individual to a large extent. Here are multiple reasons why hypertension is on rise everywhere and in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Some of the main reasons behind health issues include changing lifestyle, unhealthy food, preferring vehicles and staying within four walls. As far as the expert opinion is concerned, the people are themselves responsible for their health related issues. They also believe that hypertension is a silent killer and around half of the population in J&K is hypertensive but most of them are unaware about it. It has been observed that the people usually prefer to check the blood pressure at their respective homes as the machines and the devices are now easily available in the markets. However, such happenings have even claimed the lives of people as the improper checkups and subsequent use of medicines have led to the deterioration of health conditions. Hypertension can lead to heart attacks as well as the other fatal health issues and thus there is a need to prefer checkups with the medical practitioners only to avoid any untoward incidents. Moreover, the health department should also create awareness in this regard so as to make people aware about the disease as well. The demands of separate hypertension clinics at tertiary care hospitals and district hospitals should also be considered at this juncture so that the people could heave a sigh of relief. Besides, there is a dire need to change the lifestyle and also prefer healthy food to stay fit and healthy and prevent ourselves from deadly diseases.
