Govt constitutes committee for distribution of fortified rice, scaling under ICDS

Srinagar, May 23: J&K government on Monday constituted a Union Territory level steering committee for effective implementation of distribution of fortified rice and scaling up of fortification of rice under ICDS/MDM/PDS.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to constitution of a Union territory level Steering Committee, for effective. Implementation of distribution of fortified rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS and scaling up of fortification of rice under ICDS/MDM/PDS,” reads the order issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi Principal Secretary to the government.
As per order, Chief Secretary will be Chairman of the committee while as Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, Administrative Secretary, Transport Department, Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Administrative Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Representative of Food Corporation of India (FCI) to be nominated by CMD, FCI will be members of the committee.
“The terms of reference of the committee shall be to ensure coordination/ monitoring with the line departments for effective implementation of distribution of fortified rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS, to periodically review the progress and provide inputs/suggestions on resolving the challenges/ issues that may emerge during the process of implementation of the distribution of fortified rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS and to help in scaling up of fortification of rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS across Jammu & Kashmir through the concerned Departments,” the order reads.
