DC Kulgam reviews functioning of Social Welfare Department

Kulgam, Jun 4: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Saturday reviewed the functioning of the Social Welfare department, ICPS and ICDS in the district.
At the outset, the District Social Welfare Officer presented an overview of various welfare schemes, central as well as state sponsored and scholarship programmes being implemented by the department in the district.
He informed the chair that under ISSS there are 37997 beneficiaries and under NSAP a total of 5251 beneficiaries are being benefited by the department while as the pendency is nil.
She also informed that during the year 2021-22, 19 motorised tricycles, 120 hearing aids were also distributed.
During the meeting the DDC also reviewed various other schemes of the department including AASRA, Scholarship schemes for Minority and OBC Students besides reviewing the functioning of Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK).
Underscoring, the need for proper implementation of Social Welfare Schemes, the DDC said that there is a need for generating greater awareness among the masses about the schemes so that the benefits reach the intended sections of the society in an efficient manner.
The DDC asked the concerned to ensure adequate implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the derived objectives are achieved at the grassroots level.
The concerned ICPS informed the chair that 11 block level child care protection Committees have been constituted whereas there are 222 village level child care protection Committees in place in the district.
The concerned also briefed the chair about overall functioning of ICPS in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, CPO, District Social Welfare Officer, TSOs and other concerned.
