Over 97 percent households in JK own mobile phone: Survey

58 percent households have access to internet

Srinagar, Jun 6: Over 97 percent households in Jammu and Kashmir possess mobile phones while 58 percent households have access to the internet, the National Health and Family Survey-5 (NHFS-5) has reported.
Official data reveals that around 98 percent households in J&K possess mattresses, 96.6 percent households possess pressure cookers and 71 percent households possess chairs.
It said that 67 percent households possess cot or bed besides that 61 percent possess table, 82 percent possess electric fan and 47 percent possess radio or transistor.
Furthermore, eight percent households still have black and white television while 77 percent have colour Television and 35 percent households have sewing machines, data adds.
The survey showed that 98.2 percent households in urban areas and 96.8 percent in rural areas possess mobile phones which means in general 97.2 percent households possess mobile phones.
4.2 percent households possess landline telephone, 67.5 percent households in urban areas and 55.3 in rural areas which means 58.7 percent households have access to internet in Jammu and Kashmir.
11.8 percent households possess a computer, 56.5 percent refrigerator, 22 percent cooler/ air conditioner, 52 percent refrigerator and 85 percent possess a watch or clock in J&K.
It further added that 23 percent households possess water pump, 1.7 percent possess thresher, 1.8 percent possess tractor and 0.1 percent households have none of the mentioned things.
