Srinagar, Jun 27: Police in Handwara have arrested 03 persons along with an endangered Trillium Govanianum medicinal herb in Qalamabad Handwara.
A police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Lach Qalamabad, intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK09-2155 with 03 persons onboard. They have been identified as Shafiq Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohd & Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Aziz Rehman Khan both residents of Mankal and Jameel Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohd resident of Check Sanzipora. During search officers were able to recover endangered medicinal herb Trillium Govanianum (Local name Tri Patri) weighing around 50 kg from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 39/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding inimical elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
