Hybrid militant arrested in Bandipora: Police

Bandipora, Jun 29: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday said that they have arrested a Lashkar-e-Tobia hybrid militant along with arms and ammunition in Papachan area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
A senior police officer said that acting on specific information Bandipora police along with 14 RR and 3rd Bn CRPF arrested one hybrid militant of banned LeT outfit at naka point Papchan Bandipora.
The officer identified the militant as Mehboob-ul-Inam alias Farhaan son of Inam-ul-Haq Shah of Nadihal Bandipora. On his search, 01 Chinese Grenade which he had kept under the seat of his Scooty bearing Registration No. JK15A 0839 was recovered.
“On further interrogation the arrested militant disclosed before forces that he is associated with LeT and on the directions of LeT outfit has made a hideout inside his shop at Nadihal Market, where killed militants of LeT identified as Hyder alias Abu Muslim, Abu Ismail alias Faisal, Abu Hamza alias Okasha and Gulzar alias alias Faizan used to hide and stay,” he said.
Furthermore, the officer said that he also confessed that they had kept Arms, ammunition and IED materials inside the hideout for which they were planning to recruit some local youths from North Kashmir especially from Bandipora District to strengthen the cadre base of LeT organization.
Later on, as per officer the hideout was busted and arms and ammunition including three AK-rifles, 10 Magazines, 380 rounds, 2KGs IED substance, 01 Chinese grenade etc were recovered. The hideout was also later destroyed by security forces, he added.
“Busting of hideout and recovery of Arms, ammunition and IED material is a major achievement for SFs in Bandipora district as a major threat of attack has been averted by the timely action,” he said, adding that the Farhaan was in direct contact with Lashkar handlers from across the border and his arrest too is an achievement, as he may have been used to carry out attacks on SFs and minority community members by Pakistan.
