NITI Ayog heaps praise on J&K Ayush for Work during Covid pandemic

Srinagar, Jul 4: NITI Ayog has termed the efforts of the Department of AYUSH J&K for tracking of COVID patients as an example of excellence.
NITI Aayog’s compendium of Ayush-based practices from states and union territories, said that J&K Ayush has reached over 44 lakh people of Jammu and Kashmir to create awareness about Covid.
The administration has taken various initiatives with objectives to complement and supplement the efforts of the UT and district administration in the containment of the disease.
It said that the disease was curbed by using preventive measures and ‘self-heath care’ and practices like Yoga-Pranayama, use of home and Ayush remedies for prevention, prophylaxis.
“On an average 55 percent of the Ayush workforce from district headquarters was deputed for COVID-19 mitigation efforts including surveillance, testing, contact tracing, and distribution of medicines as well as on roaster duties in CCCs.”
A complete Ayush non-plastic packaging was used for distributing the COVID-19 Ayush essentials with an information leaf for the users, with a network of 651 Ayush Institutions comprising stand-alone and co located facilities in the year 2020-21, 15,20,778 beneficiaries availed the Ayush medicines.
The strategy adopted for the programme included weekly outreach camp, inter sectoral convergence, block level ayush teams, uninterrupted supply chain of Ayush medicines for distribution in the periphery. Routine OPDS and peripheral OPDS so that people could receive healthcare service delivery at their doorstep during the lockdown.
Directorate of Ayush, J&K translated the advisories and self-care guidelines issued by the MOA in Dogri and Kashmiri and published them in newspapers for wider circulation and in order to fully equip the Ayush workforce on the role of Ayush principles and practices of Ayush in the prevention and management of COVID-19 in the Ayu-samvad guidelines of MoA, Gol have been fully implemented.
