Police arrest 10 gamblers in Baramulla, Budgam

Srinagar, Jul 14: Acting tough against social crimes, Police have arrested 10 gamblers in Baramulla and Budgam and seized stake money from their possession.
In Budgam, acting on specific information about gambling activities near Graveyard in Ompora area of Budgam, a police party of PS Budgam raided the specific site and arrested five gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Bashir Ahmed shah son of Sonaullah Shah resident of Gousia Mohalla Ompora, Ab Rashid Hajam son of Gh Mohammad Hajam resident of Ompora, Mohammad Younis Dar son of Ab Rashid Dar resident of Chinar colony Ompora, Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh resident of Choon Budgam and Bashir Ahmed Teli son of Ghulam Ahmed Teli resident of Ompora Budgam. Officers have seized stake money of Rs 8,467/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Similarly, Police in Baramulla received specific information about gambling activities at Alambal Mirgund Pattan, a Police party of PP Mirgund raided the specific spot and arrested five gamblers from the spot. Officers have seized stake money of Rs 18,300/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations and investigation has been taken up.
