Bandipora, Sep 19: “Either you have to click photograph of computer screen on which the X-ray is scanned or I will write the report myself on your prescription which you will have to show to the doctor,” Mustafa Lone, a patient was told at district hospital Bandipora as the X-Ray Printing machine is lying defunct from past several months.
The X-Ray printing machine error now has prompting the hospital management to send the X-Ray reports either on watsapp to doctors or sometimes they write a self-report on the patient’s prescription.
“We were advised for X-ray but the technician after performing the procedure asked us to click photograph of the screen of laptop on which the technician scanned the X-ray,” Lone said.
Similarly, Atif Ahmad another patient narrated the same tale. “A few days ago, I was treated in the same way. When I expressed my anger, they said that this is how the system works here,” he said. “I was asked to click photograph of X-Ray on laptop that’s impossible for doctor to check it properly.”
Atif also alleged that it is being done deliberately by the hospital authorities to benefit the private clinics outside. “It has been around six months since this faulty practice is going on,” he said, adding that the administration should think about it because poor patients can’t afford the same at private clinics.
A hospital insider said that the photograph process in X-ray section is going on for last several months disturbing continue patients here.
He said that sometime before the X-ray printing machine developed some technical snag and the same was informed to the concerned authorities but nothing has happened regarding it so far.
Considering that the patients are suffering with each passing day, the hospital management should think about it. “Either they should by new equipment for it or the old one needs immediate repairing,” he said.
The patients appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Principal Secretary Health to intervene in the matter so that the people can breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile an official while terming it online procedure said that the X-rays are being sent to the doctors by themselves. “There’s nothing wrong in it. X-ray section is functioning smoothly,” he said.
Notably, under the guidelines on online process, the technician has to upload the X-ray on a dedicated portal and the report will get uploaded on the portal and the Doctor concerned can himself access the X-ray on his own system.
