Ganderbal, Oct 29: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda Saturday visited Mammer area as a visiting officer in connection with the ongoing ‘Back to Village’ Phase-4(B2V4) programme.
After receiving a warm welcome from locals on arrival, she interacted with representatives of PRIs and general public and took a detailed appraisal of their grievances and problems.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary highlighted the objectives of the programme and said that the programme is a milestone in achieving rural development besides listening to the grievances and issues of rural folk at their doorsteps. She stressed upon the people to avail the benefits that can reach to them under the programme.
Later, the Commissioner Secretary laid foundation stone for the construction of Solid waste Management shed at panchayat Sonamarg-B. The shed shall be constructed by the RDD at the cost of Rs 6.95 lakh under SBM scheme.
Meanwhile, on day two of the B2V4 programme, the visiting Officers in other Panchayats of the district also sensitised the people about initiatives taken by the Government to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions in UT of J&K and discussed core problems and issues being faced by the locals of the Panchayat.
They also inspected schools, health institutions, AWCs, water bodies, water and power supply schemes, ongoing development works and took feedback regarding implementation of flagship schemes.
The officers, in presence of PRIs also inaugurated several developmental works completed under different sectors in the Panchayats.
During the day gram sabhas, Mahila Sabhas, Bal Sabhas, plantation drives, exhibition of agriculture equipments, social audit of works, distribution of baby kits by ICDS, land passbooks and sports activities were carried in various Panchayats of the district.
People in Gram Sabhas and Mahila Sabhas convened by the visiting officers shared their feedback about government schemes with the visiting officers and sought redressal of their grievances.
They assured the people that their genuine demands will be shared with the concerned department for appropriate and timely redressal.
