Career guidance can transform Kashmir’s young minds

The foul smell emanating from the dustbin put up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) at the new Habba Kadal bridge is painting a grim picture of the administration as almost every day the people have to suffer badly as the place has become a safe spot for the street dogs, who continue to trouble the passerby every day, especially in morning and evening hours. It is unfortunate that the main and pivotal bridge has been chosen for putting up the dustbin where the officials from the concerned corporation visit almost every morning to lift the accumulated garbage. The sweepers of the corporation collect garbage from their respective areas and later accumulate in a dustbin put up at Habba Kadal bridge, which is being lifted in the morning. There is no doubt that the garbage is being lifted every morning, the foul smell emanating from the spot and also becoming a safe heaven for the street dogs have turned the local populace into hell, who want the concerned to take immediate steps to remove the dustbin from the place. One fails to understand why a main and pivotal spot have been chosen for such an activity. The corporation must find some alternative to ensure that the people, especially the passerby will not face any hardships and could heave a sigh of relief. Given the already congested roads, occupying the busiest bridge by putting up the dustbin is also leading to the traffic mess as well and thus the concerned SMC has to take a call to bring some respite to the people once for all.
