Kathua, Dec 19: Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday said that “every institution or place” used for militant activities is being identified and that “action under law would be taken against the involved.”
Speaking to the media persons after declaring open a month long 11th Police Martyrs Memorial T-20 Championship at Sports Stadium Kathua, the DGP said that in the coming few days a grand event of football tournament is scheduled to commence in Srinagar.
With regard to the demolishing of a structure at Pulwama, the DGP said that “it is the part of action being taken against the elements involved in anti-peace activities”.
“Every institution or place used for (militant) activities is being identified and action under law would be taken against the involved.”
With regard to TRF, he said, that it is a “mouthpiece of ISI to create disturbance”. “We have been taking action against it and would continue our intensified efforts”, he added as per the statement issued by police. “Though the infiltration has come down, the (militant) training centers are still functional, our border security grid and anti-(militancy) grids are very strong to foil the infiltration attempts”, the DGP said.
The DGP said that with the committed efforts of J&K Police and CAPFs and the cooperation of the people “we have a much better security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“We have to continue our resolve to strengthen it further.” He said that Pakistan and its agencies are continuously making conspiracies to create disturbance in J&K by way of sending drugs and arms.
The DGP said erstwhile confrontation between Police /CAPFs and misguided youth which used to follow every Friday prayers at many places has ended and youth are supporting the policing and are taking part in constructive activities. He said that Police friendly approach is being ensured at all levels so that people don’t face any inconvenience during their day to day activities.
He said that after years of militancy and destruction in J&K, supplying drugs is yet another “criminal deed of Pakistan to target our youth and society.”
“J&K Police has seized a number of consignment of drugs supplied from across the border.” He said that “intensified” action against the drug trade would continue and people found involved in it would face stringent action. He said besides the action against the drug trade, Police is playing its part in rehabilitating the affected persons for which he said that Police has fully equipped drug de-action centres functional in Srinagar and Jammu cities as well as at Range levels.
