Doctors: The heartbeat of our healthcare system

The government as well as the medicos once again called for taking all the precautionary measures in a bid to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, despite the number of cases reducing to almost zero. The appeal has been made amid the reports being received from the foreign countries that the cases have once again started increasing at a rapid pace. The active Covid-19 cases in India have declined to 3,380 Friday. Back in Jammu and Kashmir, the situation is almost similar like other parts of the country but the medicos have sounded alert and appealed to people that Covid-appropriate behaviour, which includes wearing masks, washing hands, should be followed by all. Taking precautionary measures will help in reducing the threat of a possible spread of Covid-19 spread once again as witnessed in the past, which claimed the lives of over 4700 people across Jammu and Kashmir and infected over four lakh people as well. At a time when the disturbing reports are coming to the fore through different media channels, it is the high time for the people to follow the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) again so that the possible disastrous situation is prevented this time. Moreover, prior to witnessing a surge in J&K, the administration should also issue mandatory and necessary directions in this regard to ensure that the earlier witnessed situation is not allowed again to devastate the lives of people here. Therefore, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) should be ensured in letter and spirit well on time so that the people could heave a sigh of relief.
