Lieutenant Governor’s Mulaqaat- a live public grievance hearing programme is bringing respite to the lives of many people across Jammu and Kashmir as the grievance redressal through this programme has turned out to be an easy affair and thus improving the quality of public grievance mechanism on the ground. Hundreds of people so far have put forth their demands through the programme and almost all among them have been redressed in the shortest possible time as the administration on the ground are getting directives from the top chair with regard to the issues being highlighted by the people and all these issues are being resolved in a week’s time. Such a mechanism by the Lieutenant Governor has generated hopes among the people. In today’s programme, a couple of people have highlighted their grievances and directions have been passed in this regard. In one such instance, Bashir Ahmad from Golad, Mendhar, Poonch, has highlighted his grievance regarding the installation of transformers, following which the concerned Deputy Commissioner was directed for immediate resolution of the issue. Therefore, in order to make public grievance system more effective, there is a need to come up with similar programmes at the district levels also so that the public grievance system is strengthen further in Jammu and Kashmir and those facing hardships by one or other would heave a sigh of relief after the resolution of their issues in a shortest possible and easiest way. Such programmes would help in strengthening the bond between the public and the government, which is the need of the hour.
