Pulwama, Jan 28: A Primary Health centre (PHC) in Pulwama’s Arihal village Pulwama is facing a space crunch causing inconvenience to people.
Locals said that several years ago, foundation stone for a new building was laid but it hasn’t been completed as of now.
They said that PHC is currently functioning from just three rooms besides Panchayat due to which most machinery of the hospital is lying defunct.
They said that doctors and other staff posted at the hospital are doing a good job but due to space crunch, they too are suffering and locals are forced to visit district hospital Pulwama for even minor ailments.
They added that 95 percent work on the new building has already been completed but due to unknown reasons no work has been done since the last two years.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of higher ups several times but nothing has been done on the ground.
An official working in the PHC said that recently they were asked to shift to a new building which is incomplete.
He said that the concerned agency has been directed to complete the new building at an earliest which is around 95 percent complete, after which the hospital will start functioning there.
