Jammu, Feb 20: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Tuesday chaired a meeting of State Steering Committee (SSC) to discuss revision of Institute Development Plans (IDPs) for 32 ITIs under the scheme “Upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs through PPP” besides deliberating on other agenda points of the Committee at civil secretariat here.
Director Skill Development, Sudershan Kumar, highlighted various issues regarding working of the Committee.
Threadbare discussion was held regarding approval of revision of IDPs of 32 ITIs of JKUT under PPP scheme. Besides, other issues related to upgradation and introduction of trades and approval of new Chairman ITI Bhaderwah.
It was informed in the meeting that Utilization Certificates have already been submitted to DGT besides the female enrollment as well as total enrollment has increased. Also, CCTVs have been installed in the laboratories/workshops and campus to supervise the training program besides different equipments have been purchased as per NSQF syllabus.
It was also informed that on job training has been provided to 1048 trainees, workshops have been equipped with latest furniture and furnishing to provide the trainees a comfortable, conducive and aesthetic environment.
While addressing the meeting, Principal Secretary impressed upon the officers to strictly follow the guidelines regarding preparation of trade wise plans. He said that the plans should commensurate with the needs of the industry and aspirations of local youth. He asked them that the future plan for development of trades in ITIs and Polytechnics should be made keeping in mind the futuristic aspects in terms of industrial development of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He directed the officers to ensure that the funds are utilized on assigned works besides quality of work should be maintained in all respects.
The meeting held threadbare discussion on the ways and means to enhance the placement opportunities of pass outs and frame an action plan to improve the facilities for students in terms of training and infrastructural needs.
The meeting was attended by Director General, Employment & Training (GoI), Chief Engineers PWD, Jammu and Kashmir, representative of JAMKASH Jammu, Superintendents and Principals of ITIs and concerned officials while outstation officers participated online.
