DC hands-over 30 cows, milk van among progressive farmers

Bandipora, Mar 17: The Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora Friday held a Mega Event at Veterinary Complex Bandipora to distribute cows to farmers of Surinder village to earn livelihood.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad officially handed over 30 cows to 15 beneficiaries of Surinder village.
The beneficiaries were identified randomly through draw of lots and were provided units at subsidised rates under TSP.
The eligible beneficiaries were also provided with Chaff Cutters, Deworming Kits and Mineral Supplements.
Meanwhile Progressive Dairy Farmers and entrepreneurs were also given training and awareness regarding management of animals on scientific practices.
The event was also attended by CEO LDBK, Dr Mohd Yunus; Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad; CAHO Bandipora and other District and Block Officials and all three tier representatives of Panchayati Raj viz DDC, BDC and other panchayat representatives.
The DC started the event by handing over two cows units to the fifteen selected beneficiaries of Surinder area.
He then handed over the keys of the Milk Van to the IDDS beneficiary. He also inaugurated the Animal Shelter Shed for treatment and shelter of Stray Animals.
Dr Owais later attended the Mega training cum awareness programme organised for the progressive dairy farmers and entrepreneurs.
CAHO Bandipora briefed the gathering about the Mandate and overall achievements of the department. BVO Bandipora gave a detailed lecture on management practices to be followed for profitable Dairying from these units.
Sarpanch of the Village Surinder thanked the Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora and the District Administration for selecting his Village for providing such units under TSP.
Later, DC while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts of the department in uplifting the weaker sections of the society through the implementation of different schemes.
He also appreciated the CAHO Bandipora and his team for establishing dairy units for the first time in Gurez and for establishing a Milk Processing Plant first of its kind in the Valley. Meanwhile, several officials of the department were felicitated by him at the event.
