Srinagar, Apr 14: Joint Director Fire & Emergency Services Kashmir Range, Bashir Ahmad Shah on Friday said that Kashmir is highly vulnerable from a fire safety point of view and that the department has been making efforts to reduce the number of such cases.
Joint Director Fire & Emergency Services Kashmir Range said that from a fire safety point of view, Kashmir is highly vulnerable. The houses here are always at risk of fire incidents.
He said that the fire safety week is being celebrated every year to remember the officials, who lost their lives while dousing the flames. “This day is also being celebrated to create awareness among the masses to reduce the number of fire incidents. The people are being advised to ensure fire safety measures so that there is minimum damage in case the fire breaks out anywhere,” he said.
He said that there are presently three fire stations in Srinagar while the latest equipment has also helped in ensuring minimum damage in the fire incidents.
He admitted the dearth of manpower, but said that the recruitment of 700 people last year has brought some relief.
Shah, who presided over the function briefed the officers and Jawans of the Services, said that they shall never show their back to Fire and they should always be prepared to even sacrifice their lives for saving the precious lives and property of people as the motto of our services is “We Serve To Save” Such type of functions were also organized at all District Headquarters of the (UT) and at Station Level. Fire Service week will be.
This is a really useful addition to our fleet. With these vehicles, we can now cater to different and difficult fire accident-prone areas across Jammu and Kashmir with accuracy,” said, Bashir Ahmad Shah.
