Jahangeer Ganaie

Anantnag, May 1: On the International Labour day, dozens of daily wagers of the Wildlife department protest in Anantnag town in favour of long pending demands.
Daily wagers assembled at sports stadium Anantnag town and raised slogans in favour of their demands urging the higher-ups to address their issues without any delay.
They said that despite working day and night, their files have been lying in the Secretariat since last year but due to unknown reasons permanent orders aren’t being issued.
They said that they have to travel several kilometers to attend to their duties “and at the end of the day, we get nothing; our families are suffering and we are not even able to pay the school dues of our children,” they said.
It is human rights violations the way we are being treated in J&K and after scrapping article 370, we were hopeful that our issues will be solved but nothing happened on ground, said one daily wager.
“Whether it was the local government with a full fledged Chief Minister or LG administration, everyone has played with us by assuring that the issue will be solved but no such step has been taken on ground,” he said.
Daily wagers said that the government is well aware about our sufferings but they are acting as mere spectators.
“We have high hopes for the central government and we are hopeful that the central government will solve this issue soon as four meetings were conducted in this regard recently by the central government,” they said.
They requested the government take positive steps in this regard so that daily wagers who have been suffering for years won’t suffer anymore.
