Career guidance can transform Kashmir’s young minds

The fresh circular issued by the Jammu and Kashmir, directing the authorities to desist from fixing the rates of the mutton in the Union Territory has created chaos among the masses, who have apprehensions that the mutton rates will now skyrocket. As witnessed in the past, there was no regulation on the ground as despite fixing the rates of mutton several times, the mutton dealers and butchers didn’t obey the norms, but continued to sell the meat at exorbitant rates, thereby causing hardships to the people. However, after the rules were amended, the Jammu and Kashmir government has issued a circular, asking the authorities not to regulate the mutton rates from now onwards. The decision comes at a time when the Muslims across J&K like other parts of the world are going to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha and also the wedding seasons. Amid the wedding season and ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha, the people have apprehensions that the mutton rates will go up once again as there will be no one from the administration to fix the rates and to check whether the mutton is sold within set rules. Therefore, at this juncture, the mutton dealers and wholesalers association should come up with a proper rate and ensure that the people are not looted and forced to get the meat at exorbitant rates. There is a need to come up with a non-government committee to bring respite to the people and ensure that the mutton rates will not skyrocket, which would add to the misery of the people.
