12th residential meet of ICAI members begins in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jun 17: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Saturday began the 12th Residential Meet of ICAI Members in Public Service/Civil Services. The program is attended by 100 Chartered Accountants currently serving in different capacities at All-India services, Central services and State services. The program is being organized by Committee for Members in Entrepreneurship and Public Service (CMEPS), ICAI.
On the occasion, CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President, ICAI remarked “CAs are rare combination of knowledge, perseverance and integrity, coupled with analytical skills and the ability to shine under pressure. Members of the Institute are making significant contributions in various spheres of the Indian Bureaucracy. They play a crucial role in regulation, policy development and administration. The ICAI is proud of their contribution and is committed to help members of the Institute to enhance their knowledge and skills to effectively discharge the duties assigned to them via such programs.”
With the core objective for inclusive development, CA. Talati said “75% fees is waived off for the students registering from the Jammu & Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh. This to encourage young aspirants who wish to pursue their dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant and serve the nation with their capabilities and knowledge.”
Emphasising on the need to support entrepreneurs, startups and MSME he further added “The ICAI has been actively involved in supporting entrepreneurs and their startups, recognizing their importance in driving innovation, economic growth, and job creation. The Institute understands the unique challenges faced by startups and has taken several initiatives to assist and nurture their growth. In this regard, the ICAI is organising an important event ICAI Startup Sphere from June 27-28, 2023 in Mumbai which aims to support and foster the growth of startups, thereby contributing to the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.”He also highlighted “ICAI conducted MSME programmes via the nationwide ‘ICAI MSME Setu’ and ‘ICAI MSME Yatra’ campaigns which covered 75 cities across 22 States of the nation in 75 days to promote entrepreneurship as well as to boost job creation and develop the economy. This was also inducted in the prestigious India Book of Records.”
Highlighting the need of transparency and accountability to the participants, he mentioned “ICAI had conceptualized and developed an innovative concept of Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) under which a unique number is now generated for every document certified/attested by a Chartered Accountant in practice and registered with the UDIN portal. As on 13th June, 2023 around 5.06 Crore UDINs have been generated and 1.39 Lakh Members have registered themselves on UDIN Portal.”
He also informed that the Institute is assisting the Government’s vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam for which first ever ‘Global Professional Accountants Convention’ (GloPAC) is being organized at Gandhinagar, Gujarat from November 24-26, 2023. “GloPAC aims to bring together stakeholders such as thinkers, policymakers, standard setters, industry & commerce groups and financial institutions from across the world to ponder upon and debate the current issues and future trends concerning the accountancy profession” said CA. Talati. He also informed about the Institute being Prime Partner for B-20 event “The partnership of ICAI with B20 as a Prime Partner reflects its commitment to support the Government in making India a Vishwaguru, especially in the areas of sustainability”
CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice-President, ICAI while addressing the participants said “The Chartered Accountants stand out with their abilities to render a bouquet of services which extend beyond the core domain of accountancy, auditing and this is what makes them a preferred choice in various roles in the Government. With India emerging as a strong economic force globally, there are great opportunities for the Chartered Accountants to many challenging and rewarding career options in public service.”
CA. (Dr.) Rajkumar Satyanarayan Adukia, Chairman, CMEPS, ICAI delivered the welcome address to the participants. CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Immediate Past President, ICAI gave the keynote address. Vote of thanks was given by CA. Purushottamlal Khandelwal, Vice-Chairman, CMEPS, ICAI
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha will be the Chief Guest for the Inaugural Session, which will be held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on 18 June, 2023. Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir will also be attending the Inaugural Session.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), established by an Act of Parliament in 1949 has proven its mark as an elite world class institution devoted to up hold the values of transparency, accountability and integrity. With over 3.75 lakh members and over 7.80 lakh students, ICAI is the world’s largest accounting body. Through its 5 Regional Councils, 168 Branches, 46 Overseas Chapters & 34 Representative Offices, the Institute is taking forward its agenda of inclusive growth & continues to add glory to the profession.
