New Delhi, Aug 2: Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that 2,649 Kashmiri migrants have been appointed in various departments under the Prime Minister’s Development Package till date.
He also said that till date, 2,896 Kanals and 6.75 Marlas of migrant land has been retrieved from encroachments and illegal occupation.
“Specialized grievance portal has been created for allowing Kashmiri migrants to register complaints related to illegal land encroachment,” the Union Ministry said in a written reply.
He said that the government has approved a scheme for construction of 6000 transit accommodation. The monthly monetary compensation for the relief category of kashmiri migrants has been increased from Rs.6,600 to Rs.13,000, he said. “As on date, 24,276 domicile certificates have been issued,” he added.
“Under the One Time Financial Assistance to Displaced Persons of PoJK (1947) and Chhamb (1965 & 1971) settled in Jammu & Kashmir, an amount of Rs. 1,452.33 crore is disbursed to 33,636 beneficiaries since inception. The timeline of the scheme was also extended till 31.03.2024,” he minster said.
“Under the one time Financial Assistance to families of West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs), financial assistance of Rs. 5.5 lakh per family is being disbursed by the Government of India to 5,764,” he said.
“Families of West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) who migrated from several areas of West Pakistan in the aftermath of the partition and settled in different parts of Jammu region. Since inception of the scheme in the year 2018, a total amount of Rs. 51.24 crore has been disbursed to 1,642 beneficiaries,” he added.
