Baramulla, Aug 11: The Rustam Battalion of the Pir Panjal Brigade, in collaboration with the Uri Foundation NGO, successfully concluded the five-day “Say No to Drugs” campaign at Balkote village. The transformative initiative aimed to raise awareness and educate about the perils of drug abuse while fostering a community committed to a drug-free future.
Commencing on 7th August 2023, the campaign emphasised education and community involvement to eradicate the drug menace. Dr. Aijaz Bhatt, a psychiatrist from GMC Baramulla, and Advocate Mumtaz Ahmad from Uri, shared insights into the consequences of drug addiction and legal implications of drug trafficking.
The campaign’s highlight was a vibrant awareness walk, engaging the community in direct interaction and distribution of informative material. An Art Competition for the students focusing on “STAND AGAINST DRUG ABUSE” encouraged creative expressions to address the importance of a drug-free life.
A thought-provoking documentary screening showcased real-life stories, leaving a profound impact on participants. The event concluded with felicitation and gratitude expressed by village representatives, NGOs, and school staff, acknowledging Rustam Battalion’s strides in creating a drug-free society.
