Helmets critical shield for two-wheeler riders

The developmental works are on fast track in the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir—Srinagar, and have turned it into one among the smart cities in the country, but what remained unchanged for the people is the presence of huge number of stray dogs on every lane and street here, causing great inconvenience to the people, especially in morning and evening hours. The presence of stray dogs in every lane and street has made the situation for the people here quite difficult as most of the residents don’t allow their children to play outside their homes due to the fear of dog bites. One fails to understand why there has been no visible headway in curbing the dog population as despite the increasing number of dog bite cases, the threat of dog bite continues to prevail across Srinagar. There has been no change in such a situation since long, despite the authorities claiming high and tall on curbing the dog population here. It has been witnessed that the stray dogs are roaming in packs in Srinagar, especially in Old city areas here, giving tough time to the people living in the vicinity. But what needs to be done is to take concrete measures like going for a massive dog sterilization process at an earliest, which would help in reducing the fear among the masses and also curbing the number of dog bites in the summer capital. The measures are imperative at this juncture as only the concrete steps in this regard will bring a joyous moment for the children, who don’t come out due to the fear of stray dogs.
