Naval NCC Camp commences at Manasbal Lake

Srinagar, Aug 30: Continuing with the revival of Naval NCC training Kashmir, a robust NCC training camp has commenced at the picturesque Manasbal Lake, Ganderbal.
Organized by 1 J&K Naval Unit under the aegis of the NCC Group Headquarters, Srinagar, the Pre Nau Sainik-Camp is scheduled from August 28th, 2023 to 17 September, 2023, Defense Spokesman said in a statement.
The Pre Nau Sainik-Camp comprises of 100 eager cadets from the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, including 40 promising young women.
Nestled amidst the stunning natural beauty of Ganderbal district, the Manasbal lake offers an ideal setting for honing naval skills.
The camp boasts well-equipped infrastructure and ample camping space that overlooks the tranquil lake. Accommodation is provided through tents, immersing the cadets in a true training experience. Training activities are centered around two pulling boats and two sailing boats, preparing cadets in diverse skills such as boat pulling, sailing, signalling, and ship modelling, the statement said.
It added that this comprehensive training equips participants to excel in the prestigious ‘All India Nau Sainik Camp’, a national-level event scheduled to take place at INS Shivaji, Lonavala, starting from October 14th, 2023.
The cadets are poised to undergo rigorous selection processes in disciplines like swimming, boat pulling, sailing, signalling, and ship modelling. These assessments will determine the final ontingent of the NCC Directorate JK&L who will have the honour of competing at the national level.
The successful execution of the camp has been made possible through the unwavering support of civil authorities, including the District Commissioner of Ganderbal and the CEO of Manasbal Lake Development Authority. The collaborative effort, including support from nearby army units, has created a secure and nurturing environment for the cadets’ training journey, the statement added.
