Satish Sharma tours Lal Chowk Constituency

Srinagar, Sep 29: Whilst the entire Muslim nations across the world celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Karwan-i-Islami, one of the leading socio-religious organizations of the UT, too celebrated the same on Friday with sheer enthusiasm and dazzle.
Keeping its long standing tradition alive, Karwan-i-Islami organized a grand rally from “Masjid Abu Turaab”, Qamarwari Srinagar to Darul-Aloom Jamia Qadiriyya, the central Educational and research Institute of Karwan-i-Islami in Trigam Shadipora, Sumbal. The rally was led by the chief patron of karwan-i-Islami Allama Moulana Gulam Rasool Hami himself with thousands of people participating in it. The people in the rally echoed the salutations (Durood-o–salaam), Qasaa’id( poetry in praise of prophet Muhammad) and slogans of peace while traversing the distances.
The rally was welcomed with bouquets, flowers, sweets and whatnot at different places along the route by the devotees and lovers of the prophet of Islam to express happiness and gratitude. While the rally was quite big, yet it went through very smoothly without any traffic snarls. This was owing to a robust group of volunteers kept on duty by the chief patron of karwan-i-Islami Allama Hami himself. The rally reached the destination at about 2 pm .
After reaching on the spot, the people in the rally and those congregated there offered the Friday prayers led by Allama Hami.
In his Allama Hami shed light on some significant aspects regarding the birth of prophet Muhammad. He held that this day is of utter historical significance not only for the Muslim ummah but for the entire universe. He said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave true recognition to the human virtues and values, especially those of women. He highlighted the prophetic movement regarding the recognition of rights of women and girls such as their right to life with honour, right to dignity and respect, right to property and right to proper education. The voice for the rights of women that is raised nowadays across the globe was raised and given effect some fourteen and a half centuries ago by the prophet of Islam.
Hami however lamented that the famed global bodies and the democratic Parliaments and forums are yet to recognize the importance of the 12th of Rabi-ul-awwal, birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)). He said that it should be a priority for the global institutions to declare this day as the “universal day of peace, prosperity and compassion ” in order to be the true claimants of the upholders of democracy and openness .
At the end of the Friday prayers, holy relics of prophet Muhammed were displayed to people as per usual convention. Note that there are dozens of such relics associated with prophet Mohammed, khulafa-i-rashideen, Sayida Faatima, shaykh Abdul Qadir Jeelani, etc preserved in the ” Islamic interpretation centre ” at Darul-Aloom Jamia Qadiriyya, under Karwan-i-Islami.
