Handwara, Nov 22: Residents of Yamrad Bala in Handwara’s Zachaldara Wednesday said that they have been without potable water facility for a couple of months while the concerned department has not resolved their grievance.
The aggrieved residents said that they are suffering to a greater extent due to the unavailability of a portable drinking water facility for the last couple of months forcing them to fetch it from distant places.
They said that their women are surfing due to the unavailability of potable water facilities in their area.
Abdul Ahad a local said that they have been neglected over the years by the authorities including the elected representatives who only make tall claims.
Qadir Ahmad, another resident said, “Even during this cold season, our entire area is suffering for want of a water facility. The Jal Jeevan Mission of the government aimed to provide portable water facilities to each household seems a distant dream for all of us here.”
Another resident said that they have informed the officials concerned about it multiple times to no avail.
The aggrieved residents also said that the elected representatives like DDC, BDC, and Sarpanchs are also well aware of the problems faced by the entire population but nothing has been done so far.
Ahad further said that they also raised their grievance with the B2V but nothing has been done so far leaving them to suffer. “We also raised our grievance with the visiting officer of B2V but no steps were initiated in this regard. Authorities seem to be taking our sufferings for granted,” he complained.
