Srinagar, Dec 1: The historic Maharaj Gunj Market, known for its lively atmosphere and diverse shops, is now submerged in stagnant water, transforming the market into a pool.
The shopkeepers expressed their struggles, adding they face challenges posed by the water-logging.
“It’s becoming increasingly hard for us to navigate in the market due to waterlogging,” said Abdul Rashid, a cloth merchant. “Our business is affected as customers hesitate to visit here.”
Noor Mohammad, another shop owner said the damage is resulting in financial losses. “Our inventory has incurred considerable damage due to the water logging. Many items are now unusable, causing us losses,” he stated.
An official said they will press water pumps into service to clear the water.
