SPREAD-A mission for new destinations

With the onset of winter season in the Valley, the role of the general public has increased yet again as it is the time when the heating gadgets need to be used judiciously to avoid any unfortunate incident of the fire. According to the latest report, the department concerned Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) has claimed that 53 incidents of fire have been reported in a single month—November. These incidents have been reported in Srinagar district only while the toll of such incidents could certainly be high compared to Srinagar alone. The figure shows an increasing trend in the fire incidents, and at the same time, the officials have been quoted as claiming that the heating gadgets, be it electronic or others are the primary source of fire incidents during the winters due to which the cases increase. The increasing trend of fire incidents puts a huge responsibility on the shoulders of the people to ensure that the heating gadgets are used by them judiciously and avoid any kind of unfortunate incident. It is a fact that the fire incidents can never be controlled at the government level, but until and unless the people behave sensibly, such cases would continue to rise, therefore at this juncture, the people in their respective homes, should avoid excessive use of heating gadgets and also switch off these gadgets properly before sleeping so that the fire incidents are reduced and also the precious lives and properties are prevented.
